Coming from a sports and psychology background (competitive swimming and distance running), I initially joined the box because I wanted to get stronger and needed a new challenge (mind and body). But it was the “small” gains that took me by surprise. An improvement in my flexibility, learning to skip and listening to my body are some of my personal gains since I joined the box. It might not sound like a lot but flexibility was needed for the foundation of my running and prevent injury. Listening to my body and slowing down when I need to is so important for the work I do and to prevent burnout( emotionally and physically) for myself and for my clients.
I have met an amazing group of people who have a great community spirit and who are so encouraging in the workouts. I am happy to say that majority of them have become some of my closest friends not because we just have a Crossfit interest but because we are like minded in our personal and professional life as well. I don’t come from the biggest family but I always say this group has become my second family and hold a very special place in my heart.
The coaches focus on your individual strengths and weaknesses and this has helped me gain more insight into my strengths and weaknesses as a person and as an athlete. I hope you will join and find your small gains like I have.
